Settler's Baked Beans

An excellent BBQ summer side dish!

 

1/4 lb. bacon, optional

1/2 lb. ground beef

1 large onion, chopped

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup catsup

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

2 tablespoons prepared mustard

2 tablespoon molasses

1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Salt and Pepper, optional

1 (16 oz.) can kidney beans

1 (16 oz.) can black or lima beans, drained

1 (28 oz.) can pork and beans

 

Cook the bacon, beef and onion in microwave colander or casserole, until browned.  Drain off fat and mix with other ingredients in a larger casserole.  Cook uncovered, at 100% power for 5-10 minutes or until boiling.  Reduce power to 50-70% power and slow cook additional 25-30 minutes or until sauce cook down and thickens.  Let stand a few minutes to set up before serving.
